The Taj Mahal was built by the Moghul Emperor Shah Jahan as a tribute to his 3rd wife Mumtaz Mahal. He loved his wife so much that when she died he decided the only way to show off his love to her is to build a monument that will stand the test of time. It took 22 years to complete the monument.
